Our Story

A little bit about us. . .

Blue Savannah Yarn and Fiber is an independent dye house located in the desert area of southeast Idaho. Owned and operated by Kristin--a mom of four, gardener, herder of cats and chickens, and lover of everyday luxuries. Even the most hectic day is improved with a good cup of coffee and some quality time with fiber arts. At Blue Savannah, we're dedicated to bringing moments of quiet and beauty to your everyday life.

In 2007 the dyeing journey began as Kristin played assistant to her 8-year-old daughter who was dyeing and selling silk scarves in a local coffee shop.  A foray into knitting turned into a fervor for incredible yarn, which turned into a passion for dyeing all things wool.

Kristin considers it a dream come true to love what she gets to do in the dye studio, carefully crafting hand dyed batches of yarn and fiber while spending time with her family. Her children willingly volunteer--for a fee--to help with skeining, labeling, and fiber prep.

We are dedicated to our community and the humane treatment of the sheep that grow the wool we dye. As such, each fiber blend and yarn base is carefully chosen for its combination of luxurious feel for our makers, as well as its durability and heirloom quality to the finished project.

Be sure to check out the shop and find the luxury you need to add to your life today.
