Solar Eclipse Inspired Colorway – Sun Interrupted (Plus giveaway!)

You know how much I love to experiment with new and interesting colorways, especially when I’m feeling inspired by something. And what could be more inspiring than a rare celestial event like the upcoming Solar Eclipse? I’ve created the colorway in a single-ply superwash merino in 450 yard length and a 3-ply supermash merino/10% cashmere/10% nylon fingering weight yarn in 450 yard length. Angela England also created a lovely Sun Interrupted Scarf Design to highlight the splashes of color, a crochet pattern that will be released on Ravelry soon. Meanwhile you can enter for a...

Caramel Sauce

I’ve talked with several people recently who make a fantastic caramel sauce, but it requires a lot of time and stirring.  I’ve found (by happy accident) that this recipe can work without a lot of stirring. You’ll need: 2 cups unbleached sugar 1 cup butter, room temperature 1 cup heavy cream, room temperature Heavy enameled cast iron pan Wooden spoon Whisk I didn’t let my lack of videography knowledge stop me, and I made how-to video to share my...

Fall Reminiscing

Greetings! We had a full summer at our little homestead.  Fall was busy with travel to Nebraska and Hailey, Idaho for fiber festivals, garden harvest, and starting back to school.   Oh, and we had the nicest surprise!  A 15 oz stray kitten “chose” us when he fell into the window well.  He spent a rough few weeks sick and underweight, but he’s healthy and growing and very much loved now.  He’s a polydactyl cat and has two of the cutest little mitten feet you’ve ever seen.           I have several new colorways to introduce.  “Doorway to Heaven” was a...

Shop Update! February 19, 2016

Yesterday I added some great new things to the shop. First up, I’m trying out a gradient set with more yardage!  This set has 1250 yards for larger shawls or other projects.  This is a new colorway (Forest Floor) on my Meadowlark base (merino/cashmere/nylon fingering weight). It was inspired by the painting Forest Glade, Springtime by Johannes Boesen.       Next up, I listed several 750 yard sets on Chickadee, my single ply superwash merino fingering weight base.  From left to right, Cheeky, Lemon Curd, and Merlot, It’s Me.  I listed some Forest Floor in this base...

My First Blog Post

I’ve enjoyed many wonderful blogs over the years, and I’m excited to start one of my own.  There will be yarn–yes, there will be yarn!–and there will be bits of gardening, cooking, healthy living, book recommendations, knitting. . . I’m excited to see where this takes me.  Thanks for joining me on this journey.
